His Holiness the Dalai Lama Graciously Receives Long-Life Ceremony Amidst Joyful Celebration

Dharamsala, HP, India – April 4, 2024: The esteemed spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, graced a ceremony at the Tsuglagkhang, the Main Tibetan Temple in Dharamshala (HP), yesterday. The occasion, orchestrated by members of the Toepa Association and the people of Purang, was dedicated to prayers for His Holiness’s long and prosperous life.

As His Holiness emerged from his residence, the ambiance was serene, with the mild temperature and the sun’s gentle rays setting the stage for the auspicious event. Welcomed by traditional offerings of ‘Chema Changphu’, His Holiness proceeded amidst singers and dancers clad in vibrant traditional attire, acknowledging the crowd with warmth and grace.

The ceremony, led by Ling Rinpoché, commenced with a heartfelt praise to the Buddha, followed by a recitation of ‘Clouds of Ambrosial Blessings’, invoking the lineage of Avalokiteshvara incarnations, including the Dalai Lamas. This sacred ritual, a culmination of days of preparation, was steeped in reverence and devotion as monks fervently recited prayers and mantras to bless symbolic substances.

Representatives of the Toepa Association and Purang community presented offerings, including sacred statues, symbolizing their profound reverence and aspirations for His Holiness’s well-being. Ling Rinpoché offered a cloth-bound arrow and a vajra, symbolizing the transfer of positive energy accumulated through prayers and rituals.

Amidst the ceremonial offerings, His Holiness graciously partook in a symbolic gesture, consuming a portion of a ritual cake and receiving prayers invoking the protector deities of Tibet. A Ngagpa, embodying the spiritual fervor of the audience, entered into an ecstatic trance, receiving blessings from His Holiness.
