Kerala Govt employees to be granted Quarantine Special Casual Leave of 7 days

Employees who had tested positive for coronavirus and those on the primary contact list of persons who had tested positive, need to test after 7 days

Thiruvananthapuram: Employees of government, quasi-government, public sector enterprises, and autonomous institutions in Kerala will be eligible for Covid-19 Quarantine Special Casual Leave of seven days.

As per a state government directive, employees who had tested positive for coronavirus and those on the primary contact list of persons who had tested positive, need to test after seven days, including public holidays, before they report for office.

The government has stated that the Covid 19 Quarantine Special Casual Leave would be granted only on the basis of a certificate provided by the Department of Health or the Department of Local Self Government.

Elaborating on the quarantine norms, the government has said that staff members who come in primary contact of Covid-19 patient are persons who have not been infected with the virus during the past three months, they do not have to go on quarantine.

Employees need to self-monitor

All such staff need to follow Covid-19 protocols as instructed by the government departments. It is imperative that they self-monitor for symptoms, report to the office, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms occur.

Employees who seek treatment at Covid hospitals will be granted special casual leave for the entire duration of treatment based on hospital records. The order also suggests that strict action be taken against employees who misuse this system.
