Xiaomi 13 Pro looks set to take on Galaxy S23 Ultra
The Chinese smartphone maker has also lined up the Xiaomi 13 and the Lite.
Xiaomi launched its 13Pro, its latest Android flagship offering internationally. The move came as a bid to steal a march over the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The Chinese smartphone maker has also lined up the Xiaomi 13 and the Lite.
All the 13 series handsets go with the same design structure with camera systems flaunting three lenses on the rear and a hole-punch display spanning the entire screen. The first two boast of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. These handsets also have Leica-branded cameras on the back.
The Leica Vario-Summicron 1.19-2.2/14-75 ASPH camera of Xiaomi 13 Pro can cover focal lengths ranging from 14 mm to 75. The wide angle camera is 23 mm and it has a 1-inch 50mp sensor – IMX989, similar to the Xiaomi 12s Ultra. It also has a superb 50mp telephoto lens camera and another 50mp , 14 mm wide angle one. The front also has a 32mp selfie eye.
The 13 Pro has an OLED (6.73-inch) which is capable of a dynamic refresh capacity – 1Hz to 120Hz. The 13Pro’s Snapdragon chip is synced with 12 Gigabyte fast LPDDR5X memory. You can also opt for 256GB / 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. It has all features for connectivity – Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3 and 5G.
Xiaomi needs to consider added battery capabilities as vital
The battery is 4,820 mAh only but backs 120-watt hypercharge, which essentially means you can have a full charge in 19 minutes. Perhaps Xiaomi should consider more battery capabilities so vital in the rat race of smartphones. On the colour front, 13 pro has Ceramic White Black and Ceramic White options. The 13 pro’s 12 gigabytes/256GB will start at a price point of €1,299.
When it comes to the Xiaomi 13, the camera may lag behind the Pro. But remember, it still has a Leica module with too good hardware. Xiaomi 13 has a Leica Vario-Summicron 1:1.8-2.2/15-75 ASPH system that flaunts a wide angle camera of 23mm along with a 50-MP resolution.
It also has a 10-mp, 75 mm telephoto lens and a 12-mp, 15mm ultra-wide camera. For selfies, it is akin to the 13 pro -– 32-mp on the front. This essentially means the 13 has many specifications of the 13 Pro including the Qualcomm chip. In terms of connectivity also it is the same – Wi-Fi 7 plus Bluetooth 5.3 and 5G.
If wired, the battery’s charging speed will reach 67W. Wireless charging speed is on par with the 13 Pro. The 13 differs with the Pro in design and size mainly, with a smaller 4,500 mAh battery. For the Xiaomi 13, you have two RAM options eight and twelve GB, and as far as storage option is concerned it is sealed at 250gb.
Half a year of Google storage
Coming to perks, both the phones offer Android updates spanning three years but security patches will go a further two years. Not only this, both the phones will come bundled with half a year of Google One storage. It also offers you YouTube premium for free during the first six months.
The eight gigabyte Xiaomi 13 will cost you €999 with colour options being Flora Green apart from black and white. Another lure is a free repair, without labour cost, out of warranty period in the first year of purchase.
As far as the Xiaomi 13 Lite is concerned, the 8GB/128GB model would cost you only €499. The launch is on March 8. The processor also is a bit of downgrade as price goes down -– Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. But it has an OLED display and also offers you 120Hz AR rates. Storage as well as RAM will also not match 13 and Pro considering the huge price difference.
Same is the case with connectivity with a tad lower Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and 5G options. Xiaomi 13 Lite will also offer a 4,500 mAh battery backing 67-watt fast charging.
And it does have a triple-lens wide-angle rear camera of 50 mp plus and 8 mp ultra-wide eye. A 2mp macro camera is a curious addition but it still has a 32 mp front-facing winner.
