Samsung India lines up initiatives to foster diversity and ensure meaningful opportunities for all

It’s International Women’s Day today, and many a company and organisation across the country are going all out to make a mark by rolling out initiatives that hold aloft women empowerment.  Korean smart devices maker Samsung’s India operations has gone a step further by kickstarting the first all-women powered mobile store in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Samsung India has positioned the all-women store as a celebration of the power of the Indian woman, and is a first of several initiatives the company plans to take in bolstering Samsung’s mission to foster diversity and ensure meaningful opportunities for all.

Samsung India SmartCafe is an all-women venture

Christened Samsung SmartCafe, the new all-women store will offer consumers Samsung’s retail experience, where they can experience and purchase Samsung’s entire range of mobile devices including the latest flagships Galaxy S22 series of smartphones, Galaxy Tab S8 series, Galaxy Buds2 and Galaxy Watch4.

Significant about the store is that it will be fully managed by women employees. That means that starting from the Store manager to Samsung Experience Consultants, who help consumers make informed choices about buying Galaxy devices, to the Galaxy Consultant extending device support, everyone would be women.

Samsung India has spent time training women employees at this first-of-its-kind mobile store not only on Galaxy devices but also in key operational functions such as customer service, sales, financial management, stock planning and most importantly consumer safety protocols, the company said.

WiSE to women employees in career development

Speaking about the company’s confidence about the new possibilities and milestones the all -women team stands to achieve, Ken Kang, President & CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia said that the initiative is in tune with Samsung’s values of people, excellence and co-prosperity. The company is committed to growing the number of women in its workforce and nurturing the next generation of women leaders across the company, he said.

Apart from the all-women store, Samsung India has also set up an Employee Resource Group (ERG) called WiSE (Women in Samsung Electronics), which will provide support and help to women employees in personal and career development.

Samsung India has made its presence in the country with over 25 years of operations. At the company, women have neem integral contributors to its growth as an organization. By creating new opportunities for women employees, Samsung is providing a platform for them pave their own path to a brighter future.
