Pro Kabaddi set to return, matches to get underway on December 22

Owing to the Covid-19 situation, Pro Kabaddi Season 8 matches will be played in a bio-secure bubble. Fans will get to watch matches on Star Sports and Disney+ Hotstar networks.

The Covid-19 scare which had threatened to sabotage many a sporting event in the country seems to be withdrawing itself to good effect. Kabaddi fans had been left wondering as to whether the immensely popular Pro Kabaddi league will return any time soon.

It’s good news for these fans now, with Pro Kabaddi officially announcing the resumption of the matches. According to the official announcement, Pro Kabaddi Season 8 will get underway from December 22nd this year onwards.

The matches will be telecast live on the Star Sports network and also on Disney+ Hotstar. So that means, the excitement that had been triggered ever since the first iteration of the Pro Kabaddi League is all set to continue even in these difficult times.

Pro Kabaddi Season 8 to get underway in bio-secure bubble

However, it is going to be a tough proposition for people behind the game as it would be for the players too. It has become imperative that all Covid-19 precautions need to be placed much before the start.

Safety measures that are necessary to keep the athletes and also the staff members will have to be strictly adhered to. Pro Kabaddi organisers have stressed that the government-mandated Covid-19 protection norms will be stringently followed.

Besides, the organisers are also bringing in specialised agencies to ensure safety and necessary hygiene throughout the duration of the league. They are working overtime to put in place a biosecure bubble throughout the full period of the eighth season. Testing procedures will also be prioritised so that infection is kept at bay.

Bengaluru chosen as single venue for Pro Kabaddi Season 8

Officials with Pro Kabaddi have also been quoted saying that the matches will be played in a single venue, unlike the earlier seasons. This would mean that the travelling format is being done away with. By doing this, they believe that the players and staff would stay within the bio-secure bubble for the entire duration of the season.

With a single venue having been decided, the chosen spot would be Bengaluru, where all the matches in the Pro Kabaddi Season 8 will be played. The Karnataka capital was picked as the venue as the city offers all facilities for such a mega event.

The only missing factor would be the presence of spectators. In the Covid-19 era, it has become imperative that fans of the game need to stay indoors and watch the matches live of television networks.
