300-bedded Covid Care Center in Manipur University will be ready by next week: CM Biren Singh

Mr. Biren Singh on Friday inspected the arrangements in place to ensure the project’s completion

N. Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur, on Saturday announced that a 300-bedded Covid Care Center in Manipur University will be ready by the next week after which it will be inaugurated.

Mr. Biren Singh inspected the arrangements in place to ensure the project’s completion. This facility, according to the CM, will further reduce the load in the state’s existing Covid Care Centres.

“Inspected the arrangements that are being made to open a 300 bedded Covid Care Center in Manipur University today. This facility will further reduce the load in our existing Covid Care Centre. We will be able to inaugurate this Covid Care Centre by next week,” N. Biren Singh said.

The CM also inaugurated a 60-bedded ILand COVID Care Centre in Canchipur, which is equipped with modern healthcare technologies. “Of the 60 beds, 30 are reserved for pediatric Covid care,” the Chief Minister’s Office informed.

About the COVID Care Centre in Canchipur, Mr Biren Singh said it is equipped with modern technologies. “The facility will enable us to provide effective treatment for both adults & children who need special medical attention,” he added.

It is in place to mention here that Manipur reported 791 new positive cases of COVID-19 while 14 more persons succumbed to the virus on Friday.

The total number of COVID infected people rose to 53,690 while the active COVID-19 cases reached 9,048.

In the last 24 hours, 592 people, including 380 from home isolation, were discharged, taking the total number of recovered patients to 43,779, while the recovery rate stood at 81.54%.
