Marvel Cinematic Universe ropes in Farhan Akhtar for web series

Ms Marvel, with Farhan Akhtar in the cast, will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in India, from June 8 onwards.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) just got richer with an astounding Indian presence. Actor-director Farhan Akhtar being roped in to play a role in MCU’s upcoming web series Ms Marvel.

Though an official announcement hasn’t been forthcoming as yet, a post by Farhan’s wife Shibani Dandekar revealed the roping in of the Indian actor to play a part in the web series.  There had been speculations on Farhan being signed in for a role in the upcoming series, but the confirmation came through Shibani’s post in this regard. Significantly, the show also stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan alongside Farhan.

For those who aren’t aware, Ms Marvel is a Marvel Cinematic Universe venture based on a character named Kamala Khan. Kamala Khan, incidentally, is Marvel’s first teen Muslim superhero. A die-hard fan of the Avengers, Kamala finds herself struggling with her own life as a superhero after she discovers she also possesses superpowers like her heroes.

Farhan Akhtar and Fawad Khan land MCU roles

Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan or Ms Marvel in the web series. The series has been scheduled for streaming on Disney+ globally and on Disney+ Hotstar in India, from June 8 onwards.

The MCU trailer of Ms Marvel had started airing in March, but it did not have Farhan or Fawad in it. Though it looks like ‘a guest-starring role’ that Farhan would get to play, the development comes as exciting to his fans and also Indian film freaks as a whole.  Not much has been revealed on what the character would be, though.

Farhan’s wife Shibani reveals development

When Shibani posted, “THIS!!! Can’t wait for this one!! Beyond proud of you @faroutakhtar.”, fans of the actor and MCU went gaga over it and started celebrating.

After the fans started congratulating Farhan Akhtar for landing a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe web series, the actor came forward to confirm the development by sharing Shibani’s post. He also added that he is “grateful that the universe gifts these opportunities to grow, learn and in this case have a ton of fun while doing it.”

Meanwhile, Fawad Khan had some time back said that he is part of the MCU web series Ms Marvel. He had then said that the cast and people he worked with was good fun, but he stopped short of elaborating more on that.
