Apple will begin production of the iPhone 14 in India in the next two months’ time
Tech major Apple Inc. has lined up plans to manufacture its iPhone 14 in India, with a view to considerably reduce its dependence on China. In a bid to enhance manufacturing in India and shorten the typical six to nine-month production lag for new iPhones, the company has been working with suppliers, it has been reported.
Apple anticipates producing around 12 million iPhones in India through its three contract manufacturers this year. The production had gone up from 7.5 million in 2021. The new strategy will aim at supporting the supply of close to 7 percent of global shipments and 85 percent of domestic demand, which is anticipated to reach record highs this year.
The US-based iPhone maker anticipates that the made-in-India iPhone 14 devices, which will be produced at the Foxconn factory close to Chennai, will go on sale in December. It is important to note that China will supply the iPhone 14 units for the launch period in India and the rest of the world. Industry leaders and experts anticipate that Apple will supply 570,000 iPhones to India in the December quarter, up from 370,000 devices in the prior quarter.
Apple store lined up in Mumbai
Meanwhile, the first physical Apple store in India will also come up by 2023 in Mumbai. Since Apple is renowned for operating landmark stores all over the world, both in terms of appearance and services, enthusiasts are thrilled about the grand opening.
With the opening of the store in Mumbai, Apple also intends to open a second location in New Delhi, the nation’s capital. It might be about equal to the size of the Mumbai store, which will have a 22,000 sq ft space. The business is also looking for further chances to start upscale retail locations across the nation.
Mumbai physical store to landmark
Apple’s online store is currently available in India, but the Mumbai location will be a landmark with an outstanding design. The recent developments from Apple seem to indicate that the wait is finally coming to an end.
The hiring procedure for Apple outlets in Mumbai and Delhi has begun. The Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai is slated to host the first store. In addition to these two locations, Apple is also considering other potential sites in malls and upscale shopping areas all around India, with the goal of making retail a significant portion of its presence in the nation. Other cities included in the plan are Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.
