The Pulwama terror attack killed more than 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in the Kashmir valley on February 14.

The same CRPF, nonetheless, deployed its jawans for the security of Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi today (February 15) — the message clearly is that of duty ‘above emotions’.

A CRPF jawan told India Today TV, “We are angry but duty is first for us. We have to control anger and emotions because the responsibility on us is above everything.”

“We are soldiers and our duty is to protect even though we are angry. Our duty is to guard and responsibility is above everything for a soldier,” another CRPF jawan said.

Hindu Sena and Youth Congress had held protests against Islamabad outside the Pakistan High Commission, earlier in the day.

PULWAMA TERROR ATTACK

Militants from the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist organisation targetted the CRPF convoy with a car-borne IED. The SUV was carrying explosives weighing nearly 300 kg and the CRPF bus had 39 jawans on board.

The blast destroyed vehicles and killed several jawans. The attack took place on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Pulwama.

The bus targetted by the suicide bomber, who the Jaish-e-Mohammad identified as Adil Ahmad Dar, was completely destroyed in the attack. The site of the Pulwama attack resembled a war zone with body parts and vehicle debris is strewn about.

Reactions poured in from across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the attack was a “despicable” and “dastardly” attack.
