India hands over body of deceased boy to Pakistan authorities in J&K

The authorities in J&K today afternoon handed over the dead body of a seven-year-old boy to Pakistan authorities via Chorwan Border in Gurez sector of Bandipora district. Pakistan had earlier refused to take the dead body after it was recovered from Kishanganga River near Achoora Sindiyal area of Gurez Valley.

The deceased was identified as Abid Ahmad Sheikh from Minimarg Astoor area of Gilgit Baltistan in Pakistan administered Kashmir.

Sources said that he had gone missing while travelling to school and slipped to death in a tributary of Kishanganga River.

Reports said that the dead body of Abid Ahmad Sheikh, son of Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, was handed over to Pakistan authorities at around 01: 30 PM at Chrowan border point along the Indo-Pak border in Gurez area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Earlier on Tuesday, a video message was doing rounds on social media wherein the family of the deceased had appealed the Prime Minister Imran Khan to help them in bringing back the body of their son.

It is pertinent to mention here that Kishanganga River flows from Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan administered Kashmir where it is known as Neelam River.
