Paris 2024 Unveils Special Edition Medallist Mascot for Olympic and Paralympic Games
Unique Mascots and Iconic Posters to be Presented to Medal Winners.
With just three days remaining until the first victory ceremony of the Paris 2024 Games, the organizing committee has revealed a special edition medallist mascot that will be presented to all Games medallists following their competitions. This new addition honors the longstanding tradition of awarding gifts alongside medals at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A Tradition of Honor and Celebration
Winning a medal at the Olympic or Paralympic Games is the pinnacle of achievement for athletes who have trained rigorously for years. The Paris 2024 Games will uphold the tradition of presenting these medals alongside special gifts. Each athlete who wins a medal will receive a unique medallist mascot and the Games’ Iconic Poster.
For the Olympic Games, the poster will be presented during the victory ceremony, while the mascot will be given afterwards in the Village. Conversely, for the Paralympic Games, the medallist mascots will be presented during the victory ceremony, with the posters being awarded at a later time. These gifts will be presented by 515 dedicated Paris 2024 Volunteers.
The Medallist Mascot: A Unique Creation
The special edition medallist mascots, known as “Phryges,” have been created in collaboration with Doudou & Compagnie Group. This French company, which has been manufacturing the official mascots since their reveal in November 2022, is based in La Guerche-de-Bretagne. The Phryges mascots for medallists feature gold, silver, or bronze colors on their medal emblems, sneakers, and the letters spelling out “Bravo” on their backs.
Each mascot is a unique edition, tailored specifically for the medallists of the Paris 2024 Games. The production will match the number of medallists, ensuring each athlete receives this special keepsake.
Iconic Posters: A Collector’s Item
Alongside the mascots, medallists will receive the Games’ Iconic Poster. Unveiled in March, these posters will come in Olympic and Paralympic versions. A limited edition of these posters will also be available for purchase, with 2,024 prints going on sale starting July 25 on the Paris 2024 online store.
Looking Ahead
As the Paris 2024 Games approach, the excitement builds not only for the competitions but also for the traditions and unique elements that make the Olympics and Paralympics memorable. The introduction of the medallist mascot adds a personal touch to the celebrations, honoring the dedication and achievements of the world’s top athletes.
Stay tuned for more updates and prepare to witness the grandeur of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where tradition meets innovation in celebrating athletic excellence.
