Maharashtra Chief Minister Exudes Confidence as Shiv Sena Awaits Speaker’s Verdict

In the anticipation of a pivotal verdict by Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, the political atmosphere in Maharashtra is charged as factions within Shiv Sena await a decision on the disqualification pleas filed against each other’s MLAs.

Expressing unwavering confidence in the upcoming ruling, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde stated, “We have a majority,” as he awaited the official announcement scheduled for 4 pm on Wednesday.

Shinde substantiated his claim by highlighting the support of his faction within Shiv Sena, citing, “67% in Vidhan Sabha and 75% in Lok Sabha. We have 13 MPs and 50 MLAs.” Emphasizing the Election Commission’s recognition of their majority, he added, “We hope that the speaker will pass us on merit.”

The stakes are high as the assembly speaker is poised to deliver a much-anticipated decision on the cross-petitions seeking the disqualification of MLAs following the party split. The outcome of this ruling is set to significantly impact the political landscape in Maharashtra.
