Uber cab services anticipated to be available in J&K’s Srinagar city

Uber, a renowned cab aggregator, is expected to launch its services in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital.

As per reports reaching here, the cab aggregator is likely to start the services in the capital city at the beginning of the next year.

Uber has begun hiring drivers in Srinagar

However, some local media reports say the services by Uber will be provided on New Year’s Eve.

The reports further said that the cab aggregator has begun hiring drivers for the company in this connection while an advertisement has also been published in local dailies for the same.

Uber India hasn’t confirmed the ‘development’

Uber India, on the other hand, has not publicly announced the development so far.

Meanwhile, when Digpu News asked for Uber India’s confirmation about the same, the officials declined to comment.

However, an official, while replying to the query, said, “Our services are currently available in limited cities. However, we are working on expanding across the country.”

The official said that Uber will notify the same publicly when it is ready for starting its services in Srinagar.

To a pointed question whether Srinagar was on the list of the cities that Uber India plans to extend the services to, the official didn’t respond.

With Uber cab services, passengers don’t need to haggle

It needs to be noted that on Uber, the pricing is fixed and there is no need to haggle. Before one commit to the trip, the passenger is given the final price and there is no need to negotiate.

In the past, however, protests have taken place in areas like Goa since the prices it offers are far lower than those charged by unscrupulous taxi drivers.
