Two back-to-back earthquakes shake Kashmir valley

As per recent reports, the epicentre region of the first earthquake was Amritsar, Punjab with the magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale and depth of 10 km.

Two back-to-back earthquakes hit Kashmir valley around 10:30 PM on Friday night.

As per reports, the epicenter region of first earthquake was Amritsar, Punjab with the magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale and depth of 10 km.

While for the second earthquake, the epicentre region was Tajikistan-Xinjiang Border with the magnitude of 6.2 on Richter scale and depth of 91 km.

However, a Meteorological department official said, “The high-intensity earthquake occurred 22:34:40 IST. The earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometres and the epicentre was Amritsar, Punjab at latitude 31.57 degrees north and longitude 75.09 degrees east.”

The tremors triggered panic among the people who rushed outside from their homes and called their loved ones to enquire about their wellbeing.

However, there were no reports of any loss of life or damage to property due to the earthquake, immediately.

Meanwhile, earthquake tremors were also felt across New Delhi at 10:35 PM.
