Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Allegedly Being Tortured in Jail, AAP MP Sanjay Singh Claims

In the case of Arvind Kejriwal, his wife is not allowed to meet him face-to-face," Singh alleged during a press conference.

New Delhi, 13 April 2024: AAP MP Sanjay Singh has made startling allegations that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is being subjected to torture while in Tihar jail and is being denied the right to meet his wife, Sunita Kejriwal. Singh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India of orchestrating these actions against Kejriwal.

Sanjay Singh asserted that Kejriwal is being mistreated at the behest of the government, specifically PM Modi, in an attempt to undermine his morale. He highlighted that despite jail regulations allowing face-to-face meetings between inmates and their visitors, Kejriwal’s wife has been denied such access.

“In the case of Arvind Kejriwal, his wife is not allowed to meet him face-to-face,” Singh alleged during a press conference.

Furthermore, Singh urged PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to respect Kejriwal’s constitutionally guaranteed rights, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic principles and the rule of law.

“This is not just about one individual; it’s about safeguarding democracy and the Constitution,” Singh stated, calling on the government to refrain from authoritarian practices.

Arvind Kejriwal plea against his arrest is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court on April 15.

Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy, has been in judicial custody in Tihar jail. His incarceration is set to continue until April 15.

The AAP leader’s plea against his arrest is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court on April 15. Kejriwal’s legal team, led by Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, has been actively seeking urgent listing of his plea, arguing that his arrest was based on unreliable evidence that was withheld from them.

The Delhi High Court recently dismissed Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest, stating that the arrest and subsequent remand must be examined as per the law and not influenced by electoral timing. The AAP has contested this decision, disagreeing with the court’s assessment.

As the legal battle continues, the allegations of mistreatment against Kejriwal while in custody add a new dimension to the ongoing controversy surrounding his arrest and the subsequent legal proceedings.
