Barabanki Mishap: Bihar CM announces financial assistance for kin of deceased

“In this incident, two lakh assistance has been given to the kin of 12 deceased of Bihar,” Nitish Kumar announced.

NEW DELHI — The chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar on Wednesday announced a financial assistance of Rs two lakh for the kin of deceased people after a road mishap claimed 18 lives in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh.

Reflecting over the tragic road accident, the Bihar chief minister took to micro-blogging platform Twitter and posted a tweet in Hindi, saying, “The bus accident in Barabanki is very sad. Condolences to the families of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”

“In this incident, two lakh assistance has been given to the kin of 12 deceased of Bihar and necessary instructions have been given for proper treatment of the injured and bringing them to Bihar,” Nitish Kumar announced.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolence over the tragic episode. He said he felt deeply saddened by the news of road accident in Barabanki, UP. “My condolences to the bereaved families. I have also spoken to CM Yogi ji. Arrangements are being made for proper treatment of all the injured.”

Uttar Pradesh Police, however, issued helpline numbers for the assistance of the families whose kin were travelling in the bus. Also, the Police made public names of the deceased and injured in Barabanki road accident.

It is in place to mention here that a truck rammed into a double-decker private bus which was heading towards Bihar, carrying passengers from Ludhiana, Punjab and Haryana, in Ram Sanehi Ghat area of UP’s Barabanki district.

In the mishap, 18 people died and more than 25 people were injured. Later, Police reached the spot and carried out rescue operations for about five hours.

As per details, the injured were rushed to the district hospital in Barabanki and were mostly referred to Lucknow Trauma Centre.

Police sources said that more than hundred passengers (labourers going back to their homes after work) were inside the bus, which met the unfortunate accident.
