Cruise Ship Drug Case: Aryan Khan’s bail application being heard today

An intervenor, claiming to be a social worker, has also petitioned the court in the Aryan Khan case.

After Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested along with his friend Arbaaz Merchant and six others after the drugs raid on the cruise on October 2, the hearing of the drug case continues.

Special Judge VV Patil presided over the hearing on Thursday as Aryan Khan’s bail application is being heard. The day is critical in the hearing of the case as the Bombay High Court and the district judiciary will be closed from October 15 to 19.

Pertinently, an intervenor has also approached the court, claiming to be a social worker. As per reports, he said that drug menace needs to be seriously dealt with.

The ‘social worker’ adds that Aryan Khan was getting ‘special treatment’ with the expeditious hearing of bail application.

Junior of Satish Maneshinde (Aryan Khan’s lawyer) opposed intervention, stating that intervention cannot be allowed. “We have already argued our case. Additional Solicitor General of India is representing the prosecution. Third-party cannot intervene in a criminal matter,” Live Law tweeted.

The Special NDPS Court later rejected the intervention as Aryan Khan’s lawyer termed it a publicity stunt.

The defence team of Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha is present in court. SPP Advait Sethna for NCB is also present while ASG Anil Singh was in HC, who is also expected to show up in Special NDPS Court.

It is in place to note that the anti-drugs agency stated in a statement to the court on Wednesday that Aryan Khan, Accused No. 1 of the NCB, procured narcotics and was in contact with certain people abroad who appear to be a member of an International Drug Network for illicit drug procurement.
