North Karnataka has been growing at a steady pace on its own. As part of steps to establish the supply chain base in the State, e-commerce firm Flipkart has set up three new fulfilment and distributing centres in Karnataka, including one in Hubballi.

A Flipkart press release stated the new centres in Hubballi, Kolar, and Anekal, with a combined stretch of seven lakh sq feet, will further support over 10,500 merchants from the State. Additionally, creating more than 14,000 direct and indirect fresh job openings.

Pralhad Joshi inaugurates the Flipkart facility

The Hindu reports, the offices were inaugurated in a virtual session by Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi, Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries Murugesh Nirani and others.

After the inauguration, Mr Joshi spoke and said that the supply chain base expansion in the State, including North Karnataka, will drive economic movement and generate entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.

Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Flipkart Group Rajneesh Kumar said that the new state-of-the-art facilities would further fuel economic growth.

And it will also set a benchmark in the industry and making Karnataka even more attractive for e-commerce services for all stakeholders, including sellers, MSMEs, small farmers, Kirana stores, and artisans.

Merchants on Flipkart have faced numerous hurdles while making sales on the company’s marketplace, to the extent that some of them have quit the portal.

Some of these challenges include the company’s allegedly discriminatory policies towards merchants, the lack of a skilled logistics service, and consumer returns that are a consequence of customer fraud.
