Strong Earthquake Strikes Multiple Cities in Pakistan
Resilience Amidst Rumbles - Pakistan Faces Another Earthquake Challenge.
A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 rattled various parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Peshawar, and Lahore. The seismic activity was also felt in regions across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was situated in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, with a depth of 213 kilometers. The tremors reverberated through several cities, including Sargodha, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin, Bhakkar, and Nowshera in Punjab.
In AJK, the impact extended to Muzaffarabad and the Neelum Valley, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced tremors in cities such as Peshawar, Kohat, Shabqadar, Abbottabad, Lower Dir, Mianwali, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Deerbala, Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Diamir, Parachinar, and Bannu.
Pakistan, located on the boundary of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, frequently experiences natural disasters such as earthquakes. The seismic activity in South Asia is attributed to the constant northward movement of the Indian plate into the Eurasian plate, making the region seismically active.
