Will Hardik Pandya be an automatic selection for T20 World Cup?

Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar feels Hardik Pandya has all in him to make it to the team

We are around seven months away from the much awaited and prestigious sporting event that promises to be a gala event. The T20 World Cup is what we are talking about. Among the biggest sporting events the cricket fans in India would be looking forward to, T20 World Cup will be fascinating for not just fans, but the players who will be eager to find a place in the Indian line up.

The Indian Premiere League, which is now on, is expected to be monitored by selectors as they would want to bring under the tricolour the best players capable of bringing home the trophy. The T20 World Cup, to be played away from home, in Australia, will require the best suited for the conditions down under. The selectors do have a tough task ahead of them, indeed.

The ICC event is prestigious to the core, and India would want to sweep away the disappointing performance of the last tournament. Team India has not won the trophy in almost a decade, and the last T20 performance where the semi-final was out of bounds would weigh large on the players and selectors.

Coached by Dravid, Team India holds much potential

The current team has potential. Coached by none other than Rahul Dravid and captained by the talented Rohit Sharma, Team India looks formidable. The ICC title drought could be a thing of the past this time around, and it is likely that Australia would prove to be the perfect venue for the Indians to excel and establish their supremacy. It is in this context that former player and cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar’s words are significant. Gavaskar has picked a player who he believes should be ‘automatic pick’ for Team India as it travels for the T20 World Cup.

Hardik Pandya might make it to the team

Ahead of the Gujarat Titans vs Lucknow Super Giants IPL match on Monday, Gavaskar had opined that Hardik Pandya will be watched by the entire cricketing fraternity. According to him, he could come across as an automatic selection for the T20 World Cup team.

Hardik had, for Monday’s IPL match, bowled his full quota of overs, and constantly bowled close to the 140 kmph mark. He also led Gujarat Titans to their maiden win too. It looks like Hardik Pandya could prove Sunil Gavaskar’s instincts true.
