Infopark in Kochi goes greener with online bike sharing service for employees
Tech professionals are set to return to their offices post-vaccination this month, and authorities would present them with the MYBYK bike sharing commute option
The advent of information technology parks in Kerala two decades ago brought with it a slew of changes to the way citizens went about doing their social chores. From car-pooling to green offices, most of the companies based out of the three IT parks in the state have ushered in a green way of life too.
The Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram, Infopark in Kochi and Cyberpark in Kozhikode, and their various allied centres in smaller towns of Kerala have been treading the greener path even as they go about doing their businesses.
Aiding them in their efforts was Kerala IT Parks, the body under which the information technology parks operate. Many an initiative have been kick-started with the aid of the government as well as the employees of the technology companies that are housed within these three parks.
The latest effort towards a greener planet has been initiated by the Infopark in Kochi, the bustling commercial zone of the state. In an effort to encourage sustainable and pollution-free commuting on the campus, Infopark has launched an app-based bike-sharing service.
MYBYK online bike sharing service offered in association with Kochi Metro
Christened MYBYK, the bike sharing initiative comes in association with the Kochi Metro. Bikes are being made available for hire at nine different locations across the Infopark.
Users need to simply install the MYBYK app and start using it. The project is an extension of the MYBYK bike sharing service earlier launched across the city in association with Kochi Metro. The bike service is offered at a minimal cost, and ushers in an eco-friendly commuting option on the Infopark campus.
Infopark has more than half a million employees working in 460 companies. Most of them are currently work from home, owing to the Covid-1 situation. With the completion of the vaccination drive by this month, more companies will start returning to normal operations on the campus.
MYBYK service is seen as a great commute option for IT professionals and other employees at Infopark when the campus is fast returning to normalcy. John M Thomas, CEO, Kerala IT Parks and Loknath Behera, Managing Director, Kochi Metro, jointly inaugurated the service.
With normalcy set to return in the Infopark campus in Kochi soon after the vaccination drive gets over this month, more employees will be seen coming back to offices. Infopark officials believe that the MYBYK green commuting option would be a preferred commuting option for the eco-conscious workforce in the city.
