Tripura government providing free food to the poor amid COVID-19 restrictions

Tripura Govt will also provide lectures to school students based on the NCERT syllabus, allowing them to “make up for lost learning time”

In view of the restrictions due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the Government of Tripura is providing free food items to poor families.

“The state government is providing food items to the families in need due to the Covid restrictions,” a tweet from the Office of the Chief Minister of Tripura read.

According to the tweet, “Each family is being given 10 kg of rice, 2 kg of pulses, 1 kg of edible oil, 3 kg of potatoes, 2 kg of onions, 500 gms of soybeans, 200 gms of powdered milk. And 1 kg of salt.”

Earlier, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb unveiled a 24-hour education channel on Monday, which would provide lectures to school students based on the NCERT syllabus, allowing them to “make up for lost learning time” because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) regions are under a nine-day 24-hour “Corona curfew,” Tripura announced night curfew in all areas of the state beginning May 19 from 6 PM to 5 AM.

The decision was announced at the state secretariat in Agartala by cabinet spokesperson Ratan Lal Nath.

Inter-district mobility will be completely forbidden from May 20 to May 26, except for critical or emergency purposes, according to the revised restrictions. Further decisions will be made public in the following days, with a focus on issues affecting the poor, according to the minister.
