More than 300 films from around the globe to be showcased at 52nd IFFI
IFFI this year would have a hybrid format owing to the Covid-19 situation; to begin on November 20
More than 300 films from around the globe will be on showcase at the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) this time around. To get underway in Goa from November 20, the festival, which is into its 52nd edition, has a major hassle this time around too like last year, with the Covid-19 pandemic far from being gone.
In tune with the difficult times, this time also the organisers are lining up measures to conduct the festival in a hybrid format. That means, the films will be screened in theatres in front of audiences as well as on virtual platforms too. Organised jointly by the Directorate of Film Festivals under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the state Government of Goa, the 52nd edition of the festival will run between November 20 and 28, 2021.
IFFI to have the best films from the contemporary scene
The 52nd International Film Festival of India will bring to the festival showcase a handful of top-of-the-line films in the contemporary scene and also classic movies from across the world.
Besides, the IFFI will also usher in the presence of a wide line up globally renowned filmmakers, actors, technicians, critics, academicians and film enthusiasts. In what would be a celebration of cinema and the art of filmmaking, the 52nd International Film Festival of India will have screenings of films, presentations, panel discussions, co-production, seminars, and more.
Registration for media delegates
The festival organisers have said that media delegates who wish to attend the 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India in person can register online. Mediapersons who have the professional experience of covering major International Film Festivals such as IFFI for a minimum of three years can apply to be a delegate.
The 52nd International Film Festival of India organisers have also stated that applicants need to be vaccinated against Covid-19 and vaccination certificates are to be uploaded on the delegate registration portal. Registrations will stay open till midnight of November 14, 2021.
Apart from physical screenings, the 52nd edition of IFFI will also provide opportunities to attend festival-related activities virtually. A number of film screenings will be online. All International Film Festival of India press conferences held by the Press Information Bureau will be live-streamed on PIB’s YouTube Channel. Registrations for the virtual platform haven’t yet been announced.
Among the most prestigious film festivals in the whole of Asia, the International Film Festival of India is an annual affair with a permanent venue – Goa. Apart from opening a common platform for films from across the world to converge on one location, the festival has also been seen as bringing forth an understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos.
