18th CII EXIM Bank Conclave, A Partnership Creating a shared future

CII EXIM Bank Conclave on Africa has played a pivotal role in encouraging Indian companies to establish and grow their footprints in Africa. The level of economic engagement between India and Africa has grown multi-dimensional and reflects the changing contours of this dynamic relationship.

The 18th edition of “CII EXIM Bank Conclave on India Africa Growth Partnership” is scheduled on 14-16 June 2023 at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. The upcoming edition will focus on trade, investments and the exchange of knowledge and expertise creating a shared value for business and industry at large between India and Africa. 

CII EXIM Bank Conclave has not only set the ground for many new cross-border partnerships to take root, but also conducted a critical evaluation of the existing collaborative arrangements on the basis of which a new roadmap for future India-Africa partnerships would be designed.  

Over the last 17th editions, the Conclave has played a pivotal role in encouraging Indian companies to establish and grow their footprints in Africa. The level of economic engagement between India and Africa has grown multi-dimensional and reflects the changing contours of this dynamic relationship

CII EXIM Bank Conclave has been catalysing Partnerships at 3 levels ie. Government, Institution and Enterprises, this shall results into :

  1. Increasing outreach of Information on Indian enterprise in the identified sectors to Africa.
  2. Increasing interaction between the Indian Industry and Africa to address specific business opportunities.
  3. Building upon the momentum gathered with the launch of the “India Africa Forum Summit”
    and taking ahead the actionable agenda put forward during the deliberations. Discussing
    possibilities for Indian participation on long-term projects.

Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister Dr S Jaishankar and Minister V. Muraleedharan will be the Chief Guests of the conclave this year. Guest of Honours gracing the occasion will be Mr C.G.D.N. Chiwenga, Vice President – Zimbabwe; Mr Muhammad B.S. Jallow, Vice President – Gambia and Mr Vital Kamerhe Lwa Kanyigiyi Nkingi, Deputy PM – Democratic Rep. of the Congo.

Ministerial delegations visiting the conclave are from Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo (Republic of), Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini (Kingdom of), Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Lesotho, Malawi,  Namibia, The Gambia, Zimbabwe.

African missions in India are upbeat on the conclave. Full house attendance of the Curtain Raiser held on 5th June 2023 has demonstrated the event’s importance for African countries. Excerpts from the messages received from the heads of the African Missions are overwhelming. 

“The High Commission of Rwanda to India is grateful for the unwavering efforts by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to increase Indian investments in Africa and in Rwanda particularly. Today, Indian investors come at the second place of big investments in Rwanda”. H.E. Ms Jacqueline MUKANGIRA, High Commissioner of Rwanda to India.

“CII EXIM Bank Conclave provides an excellent platform for businesses, policymakers, and experts to engage in dialogue and explore new opportunities for collaboration”. The facilitated discussions on several critical issues such as the role of technology and innovation in driving trade and investment, addressing challenges faced by businesses, and promoting sustainable economic growth, amongst others, is a testament to the importance of this event.” H.E. “This year’s version of the Conclave comes as a testimony and witness to the growing trade and economic partnership between Africa and India; a continent and a sub-continent. The variety of the themes discussed bear witness to this as they straddle across subjects like finance, infrastructure, health, trilateral cooperation mechanisms, defense, and others.” H.E.
