Strict action against schools denying online classes to students: Pinarayi Vijayan

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that he has instructed the officials to investigate the matter and take appropriate action against the erring schools

Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister of Kerala, on Wednesday said that his government is going to take strict action against schools that are preventing access of students to online classes, as they are unable to pay fees due to the prevailing situation.

“Complaints are being received about private unaided schools demanding excess fee,” he said, adding that students who are unable to pay fees are prevented from participating in online classes.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that he has instructed the officials to investigate the matter and take appropriate action against the erring schools.

He said, “Children’s education cannot be denied. Instructed officials to enquire and take strict action.”

Chief Minister Vijayan, on the other hand, said that the appointment of teachers will be examined before the schools reopen. This is in the context of the prolonged closure of schools due to the Covid situation.

Those who were recommended for appointment last year were also outraged that they had not yet been appointed.

The CM also said that all the vacancies available within the PSC rank lists would be filled and the government, the legislature and the Public Service Commission should take immediate action over this.

Meanwhile, CMO Kerala also said that the state Cabinet has allowed to carry out preliminary works regarding land acquisition, for the Semi High Speed Rail Project from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod.

“Administrative Sanction granted for Rs. 2,100 Crore as State share, through a loan from KIIFB towards land acquisition,” it informed via a tweet.
