Bengal: Former ATK Mohun Bagan players Arindam Bhattacharya, Sourav Das join SC East Bengal ahead of ISL
ISL ‘Golden Globe’ winner and ATK Mohun Bagan goalkeeper, Arindam Bhattacharya has formally signed a one-year contract with SC East Bengal along with Sourav Das
Kolkata, 7 September 2021: Ahead of India’s biggest football league, ISL ‘Golden Globe’ winner Arindam Bhattacharya has formally joined SC East Bengal. He used to play for ATK Mohun Bagan club. Former Mohun Bagan player Sourav Das also inked a one-year deal SCEB, the club confirmed today.
SC East Bengal had tweeted that Arindam has signed a one-year contract with the club. Arindam won the Golden Gloves last year in ISL for his fantastic performance in the seventh edition of the football league
Promising forward Naorem Mahesh Singh joined SC East Bengal (SCEB) from Kerala Blasters FC on a season-long deal with the club. SCEB also confirmed the one-year extension of promising right-back Ankit Mukherjee on Saturday. Ankit made 12 appearances for the red and yellow brigade. He had joined the SCEB from ATK Mohun Bagan during a transfer window in the last season in January. SCEB stands ninth in the ranking table with 17 points.
Off late, he was playing for Mumbai City FC in the Hero ISL 2019-20 and made seven appearances as a midfielder.
Sourav Das was former Mohun Bagan player
Sourav Das began his career at the Tata Football Academy and moved to play the Hero I-League for Mohun Bagan AC in 2016. Mohun Bagan was called ATK Mohun Bagan after they officially clubbed their teams around two years ago. He helped the Greens and Maroons to win the Calcutta Football League in 2018-19. He has made 11 appearances for Mohun Bagan in the Hero I-League.
Off late, he was playing for Mumbai City FC in the Hero ISL 2019-20 and made seven appearances as a midfielder.

“I am glad to be here. I can’t wait for the season to start. I want to win as many games as possible for SC East Bengal, and keep as many clean sheets as possible,” said Arindam after signing the deal. He will strategize on keeping the dressing room tight to win matches.
He said that he has received a lot of messages requesting him not to leave Kolkata, which inspired him to join SCEB. He said that his family members are huge fans of the club, especially his father. He also tweeted the same.
Arindam joining the East Bengal club was doing rounds since early August.
Arindam Bhattacharya: goalkeeper with the most number of clean sheets
Goal Keeper Arindam Bhattacharya has the most number of clean sheets in the last session of the league for ATK Mohun Bagan. He was the key player to help his team reach the final, which they lost against Mumbai City FC.
Bhattacharya had a record of 10 clean sheets and 59 saves in the last ISL. He then pipped out Mumbai City FC’s Amrindar Singh to win the Golden Globes.
The 32-year-old custodian started his football career at Tata Football Academy. He then spent around two years at the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The goalkeeper has signed his first professional contract with Goa’s Churchill Brothers and won the2008-09 I-League. He then had played with now-defunct FC Pune City and Bharat FC, Bengaluru FC, Sporting Clube de Goa, and Mumbai City. Before joining SCEB, he was in ATK during the 2018-19 season.
