Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Ms Meenakshi Lekhi engages in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra program in New Delhi

Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Ms Meenakshi Lekhi, actively participated in a significant event organized in R.K Puram in South West Delhi as an integral part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. During the ceremony, she led the pledge for Viksit Bharat and engaged with beneficiaries from diverse government schemes. Emphasizing the pivotal role of effective governance, the minister stressed the joint initiatives of the government in actively engaging with and assisting the public. She restated the steadfast commitment of the Modi government to ensure direct outreach, catering to the essential needs of the citizens.

Ms Meenakshi Lekhi said that the focus of the government remains on ensuring no individual, especially the economically disadvantaged, suffers due to a lack of resources or healthcare during this period. Addressing health concerns like tuberculosis (TB), the government ensures free medicines and rations for nine months for TB patients. She further highlighted the major benefits provided by the government to bolster financial empowerment among poor people. Earlier, banks gave loans mostly to the affluent, relying on their assets as collateral. However, now, with the help of the government’s banking facilities, those without assets, yet willing to work hard and succeed, can directly approach the bank for loans. Their guarantee became the government’s assurance.

MoS highlighted the significant investment in village infrastructure, recounting a childhood memory. “I recall my mother standing in line for a cylinder, resorting to black markets when supplies dwindled”, she expressed. But yesterday, times have changed. The transformation is palpable as the government continues to address the fundamental needs within the nation. Investments in village infrastructure have mitigated challenges that have long plagued the rural landscape.

As part of the VBSY campaign, Ms Meenakshi Lekhi called on the people to avail the benefits of government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), and PM Ujjwala Yojana. Ms. Lekhi shares the commitment of the Prime Minister towards the country’s development, steering clear of personal gains, and continuing to assemble a team sharing this vision. She reiterated the pledge of four crore houses—a guarantee under the PM’s leadership. “Our actions define our destiny, and by choosing the right leadership, the entire nation reaps the rewards”, she commented on the visionary approach of Modi. The active participation, especially by the women of the National Capital, underscores the enthusiasm and support garnered by the VBSY initiative. Her visit stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation and widespread awareness of welfare programs.
