Sangli, Maharashtra: In a significant event held in Sangli, Maharashtra, the President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Mr Sharad Pawar, unveiled the statue of the esteemed leader, Raja RamBapu Patil. The occasion was marked by insightful speeches, remembrance, and a celebration of the leader’s contributions.

Addressing the gathering on Tuesday in Sangli, Mr Pawar reflected on the significance of the day, stating that it was a day of remembrance for Bapu, and he expressed his joy at being in Sangli on this occasion. He acknowledged the efforts of Jayantrao Patil in suggesting the unveiling of the statue as a precursor to the commemoration.

The Party President spoke warmly about his association with Bapu, citing their shared experiences during the early years. He reminisced about their interactions on the steps of the Congress Bhawan in Pune, where Bapu, then the Congress president, engaged in discussions with workers, including college students. During this time, Mr Pawar highlighted Bapu’s role as a real organizer, connecting people across Maharashtra and fostering unity.

The President commended Bapu’s multifaceted responsibilities as a minister, overseeing industry, village development, and revenue accounts. Despite facing challenges, Bapu’s impactful work in the industry department remains relatively unknown to the current generation.

Reflecting on Bapu’s legacy, Mr. Pawar highlighted his enduring commitment to development work, both in power and in opposition. He shared anecdotes of their joint efforts, including a Dindi from Jalgaon to Nagpur, demonstrating Bapu’s dedication to the cause.

The event concluded with Mr. Sharad Pawar expressing his gratitude to the Municipal Corporation for erecting a handsome statue that accurately represents the essence of Raja RamBapu Patil. He urged the community to support Jayantrao in continuing Bapu’s vision, emphasizing Jayantrao’s vital role in shaping the next generation of administrators and organizers in Maharashtra.
