In league with its billionaire friends, BJP govt insulting farmers: Priyanka Gandhi
The Congress’ General Secretary said that the government was viewing the problem through the eyes of its “billionaire” allies and that the government was constantly belittling farmers.
NEW DELHI — Following the Centre’s statement that it had no record of farmers dying during the demonstrations at Delhi’s borders against three agriculture laws since 2020, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday accused the government of “insulting” farmers while asking for the laws to be repealed.
“The BJP government said in Parliament that neither it made any effort to know the intention of the farmers on the black agricultural laws nor did it have any data of the martyred farmers,” Priyanka said.
The Congress’ General Secretary said that the government was viewing the problem through the eyes of its “billionaire” allies and that the government was constantly belittling farmers.
Priyanka made the comments through a tweet posted in Hindi, using a Hindi hashtag which translated to “Take back black farm laws”.
Her remarks come after the Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told the Parliament on Friday that the government had no records of farmers dying during the past year’s protest at Delhi’s borders against three new agricultural laws.
It is in place to mention here that since November last year, farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh have been camping outside Delhi’s borders in protest of the three laws.
After obtaining special permission, a small group of 200 farmers is also holding a protest at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi.
