She stated, “They (BJP) are accustomed to questions like ‘how do you eat mangoes’, so are afraid to discuss in Parliament questions that bother the common man like rising inflation.”

NEW DELHI — Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday said that the Bhartiya Janata Party was afraid of debating some of important issues of public importance in Parliament, given the party being “accustomed to questions like ‘how do you eat mangoes?’.

Priyanka Gandhi tweeted in Hindi and said, “They (BJP) are accustomed to questions like ‘how do you eat mangoes’, so are afraid to discuss in Parliament questions that bother the common man like rising inflation.”

Earlier, the Congress party also attacked the ruling party over the Pegasus scandal.

According to the Congress, the Pegasus issue may be unnecessary for the Modi government but the Pegasus scandal in which the judiciary, the Army, the opposition and journalists have been spied, such a case cannot be unnecessary.

It would not be out of place to mention here that the annual consumer inflation rate in India was little changed at 6.26 percent in June from 6.30 percent in May of 2021, lower than market forecasts of 6.58 percent, according to Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI).

Retail inflation stayed above the Central bank target range of 2 percent to 6 percent for the second month, due to high global commodity prices.

India’s retail and wholesale inflation will probably accelerate during the second half of this year, according to economists surveyed by Bloomberg. However, Indian monetary policy makers have maintained that the country’s current inflation is due to supply-side problems and won’t persist, while they focus resources on an economic rebound.
