Priyanka Gandhi calls out the anti-Dalit mentality of government employees in Uttar Pradesh

Priyanka Gandhi said that the UP Police attacked Dalit families in Palia village of Azamgarh and demolished houses there.

Congress leader and the party’s chief in Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday criticized the state government employees, especially the police for their role in a dispute in Palia village.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra posted a tweet in Hindi in which she said that UP Police attacked Dalit families in Palia village of Azamgarh and demolished houses there.

“There is news of UP Police attacking Dalit families in Palia village of Azamgarh, Raunapar. Their many houses were demolished, hundreds were sued,” the Congress leader said.

According to the Congress party’s UP chief, it shows the anti-Dalit mentality of the government employees.

She also demanded action against the ‘culprits’ and relief to the affected families. “Action should be taken against the culprits and compensation should be given to the victims,” she added.

Pertinently, media reports said that in Palia village of Rauna Par Police Station area on Tuesday night, the attack on the police, who had come to rescue after a fight had erupted, was overwhelming.

The police later got JCBs to damage the homes of half a dozen people while also ransacking many of them.

However, the police station in-charge of Rauna Par, Tarakeswar Rai, has termed the allegations of vandalism by the police in Palia village as baseless.
