Gunfight breaks out in southern Kashmir’s Tral area

One unidentified militant killed, claims J&K Police

A gunfight broke out between government forces and militants in southern Kashmir’s Tral area on Friday, in which three militants were killed.
As per reports, the gunfight erupted in Mandoora village of Tral when a joint team of Police, Army’s 42 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

Kashmir Zone Police later said that one unidentified militant has been gunned down while the gunfight raged on.

However, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir), Vijay Kumar said that three militants have been killed in the brief encounter, as per a local news gathering agency. Although, the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
It is pertinent to mention that Mandoora village is situated in the east of Tral town, just about 4km away from the tehsil headquarter.
