Apart from the MLA’s son, the others involved in the accident include Sagar’s relative Bindu, friends Ishita, Dhanusha, Akshay Goyal, Utsav, and Rohith. The Audi car Karuna Sagar was driving lost control and hit the road divider and a compound wall, killing all inside.

The accident that happened during the wee hours of Tuesday is suspected to be a result of overspeeding, a New Indian Express report quoting a senior police officer said.

The accident took place near Mangala Wedding Hall at around 1.30 am. Karuna Sagar and the others were travelling towards Forum Mall when the tragedy happened.

All seven dead

The front portion of the car was fully damaged due to the impact. The locals in the area informed the police immediately after the mishap. They also shifted the passengers involved in the accident to a private hospital nearby. However, none of them could be saved. After the post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the families.

The report quoted Ravikanthe Gowda, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), saying that the car could have been driven fast and in “a negligent manner”. The police are investigating if the boys were drunk. Traffic police have registered a case of rash driving, and an investigation has been launched.

It has been reported that Karuna Sagar had planned to go back to Hosur on the same night itself.
