Omar Abdullah asks CBSE to take a call on Class 12th exams

Omar Abdullah said the 12th Board exams are a “cause of enough tension for students without the cruel and unusual punishment of uncertainty thrown in to the mix

Vice President of Jammu Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), Omar Abdullah said that the Education Ministry and Central Board of School Education need to get their act together and make a decision about the contentious CBSE Class 12th examinations.

The NC leader said the 12th Board exams are a “cause of enough tension for students without the cruel and unusual punishment of uncertainty thrown into the mix.”

“Have a heart & take a decision so that one way or the other, kids know what to expect. Please get your act together CBSE & Edu ministry,” Omar Abdullah tweeted.

Last day, the Congress party’s General Secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that she had written to Minister of Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal about the forthcoming CBSE exams.

Priyanka said that she wrote a letter to the Central minister, summarizing suggestions from students, parents and teachers about the examinations to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to chair a meeting on Class 12 Board exams tonight.

PM Modi will be briefed on all options being considered by the government regarding the Board exams. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will join Modi in the meeting while as Union Minister of Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank might miss the meeting as he is currently hospitalized due to post COVID-19 complications.

Earlier, Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting where the issue was raised wherein most states had agreed to hold exams at a later stage, some were against it. Demand for vaccinating children before asking them to appear for exams was also raised in the meeting.
