Tata Motors likely to show off Punch EV at Auto Expo 2023

Tata Punch EV could arrive at dealerships for around Rs 10 lakh

Electric vehicles (EVs) are taking over the Indian roads, with automobile companies churning out cars that run on electric power every passing day. On the forefront of it all is Tata Motors, the country’s own automotive major that has earned immense trust among car buyers.

Tata Motors has already hit the street with a slew of electric models and sales have been expanding. The latest from the Tatas stables is that the company is lining up a new electric version of its hugely successful Tata Punch.

The new Tata Punch electric car is expected to be shown off at the Auto Expo of 2023. Post Auto Show unveiling the company will push the car out of its assembly lines for public purchases during the latter part of year 2023.

Punch EV will be Tata Motors’ 4th EV

The Tata Punch EV will be the fourth electric car from the manufacturer. Built on the latest Sigma platform that has been derived from the modification of the ALFA, the car is expected to bring to the roads a much more powerful electric model. It may be noted that the ALFA platform has been the for a slew of Tata cars that saw a conversion from ICE to EV.

The Sigma platform is said to be equipping the Punch EV with welcome aspects such a good range and better cabin space. Besides, it will also ride on a powertrain similar to that of the ones that the Tata EVs that are currently in the market have deployed.

We think the battery pack details will be under wraps for some more time, and most probably would be revealed in time for the Auto Expo.  However, a report stated that there are chances that the car might come equipped with two battery pack options.

Pricing expected at around Rs 10 lakh

The company has done that before in some of its earlier electric cars.  The interior features could include a semi-digital instrument cluster, drive modes, a touchscreen infotainment system, and more such.

We need to expect that the company would attach a price tag that would read a bit more than the earlier ICE models. Most probably, the car would come for a price of around Rs 10 lakh. Tata Motors, which already has brought to the market electric models such as Tiago EV, Nexon EV, and Tigor EV, will be looking to emulate their successes with the launch of the Punch EV.
