Passenger safety priority for Skoda Auto as carmaker steps up growth

Skoda Auto cars will come with the tech and features that make them the safest.

When it comes to passenger safety, modern car makers have begun seeing it as a priority. Most automotive companies have been very keen to inject the most sophisticated mechanisms that would minimise the impact of crashes and other mishaps on the roads. Taking a leap into this arena is Skoda Auto India, which has already made major advances that ensure passenger safety.

In a bid to push forward with its sales in India, Skoda Auto India has said that it has raised the bar in terms of safety standards with each new vehicle. Christian Cahn von Seelen, Executive Director, Sales, Marketing and Digital, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India has stated that the common thread that binds all its products is the packaging in terms of dynamic drive, features that matter, comfortable ride and most importantly, unparalleled safety.

Zero compromise on safety, says Skoda Auto

Skoda Auto has been present in India for over two decades now, and the MQB-A0-IN platform is the first ever that was specifically developed for the country. The brand’s India 2.0 cars, namely Slavia and Kushaq, which have been developed on this platform, came with a high focus on localisation, lower costs of ownership and maintenance, while maintaining Skoda’s dynamic driving traits and zero compromise on safety.

von Seelen added that the company will continue to win the admiration of Indian car buyers, especially those who are conscious about the well-being of their family and the friends they drive with. “And while we ensure that our cars have the technology and features that make them the safest in India, all the systems work the best way in harmony with the seat belt worn,” he added.

In the global arena, Skoda Auto has a 50-year-old legacy with crash tests and safety. A Skoda 100 L is the first documented crash test in Prague-Ruzyně in former Czechoslovakia in 1972. Currently, the company has a world-class, state-of-the-art Polygon test centre in Úhelnice, which has been awarded Crash Laboratory of the year 2020 by the Automotive Testing Technology International trade journal. And every global Skoda car since 2008 has been rated 5-star by Euro NCAP.

Crash lab ensures testing for safety

The automotive major has also been using its expertise in technical development to consistently improve the active and passive safety of its vehicles. This is evident in the fact that even its entry-level models come with numerous assistance systems that are usually only available in vehicles from higher vehicle classes. The crash laboratory Polygon Úhelnice provides thorough testing for safety.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) makes passenger vehicle brands of the Volkswagen Group in India, and they include Skoda Auto, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini. The group has been offering the best and widest range of designs, body styles and powertrains. Safety is a priority area.

The Skoda Slavia and Kushaq models are equipped with upto 6 airbags, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, tyre-pressure monitoring, multi-collision braking, anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, ISOFIX mounts for child seats and more.
