Top Diplomats of Iran and Russia Meet in New York

New York – In a significant meeting on Tuesday, the top diplomats of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation held extensive discussions on the bilateral relations between their countries and reviewed the latest developments on the international stage. The meeting took place on the sidelines of a United Nations Security Council session in New York.

Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov engaged in talks that covered a range of issues central to the Tehran-Moscow relationship. Bagheri Kani highlighted the recent advancements in bilateral cooperation and expressed optimism about the swift finalization of key documents, including the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement and other cooperation agreements.

“We are hopeful that the legal processes for these vital documents will be completed soon, solidifying our comprehensive strategic partnership,” stated Bagheri Kani.

The discussions also turned to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. Bagheri Kani condemned the brutal Israeli war and called for an immediate halt to the crimes and attacks by Zionists against the people of Gaza. He stressed that the international community’s neglect and the expansion of attacks by the Zionist regime are exacerbating the crisis in the region. Bagheri Kani also commended Russia’s efforts on the Palestinian issue during its presidency of the United Nations Security Council.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov extended his congratulations to Iran on the successful conclusion of its presidential elections held on June 8 and June 15. Lavrov expressed satisfaction with the progress in bilateral cooperation and voiced Russia’s concern over the potential escalation of the conflict by Zionist actions.

“Russia is committed to preventing any widening of the conflict,” Lavrov declared.

The meeting between the two foreign ministers underscores the growing strategic alignment between Iran and Russia amidst shifting geopolitical landscapes and highlights their joint commitment to addressing critical regional and international issues.
