Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma decries ‘distasteful comments’ against DC Isawanda

CM Conrad Sangma also said let us fight against this common enemy and support all those in the frontline

Vaccination has recently become a hot topic in Meghalaya, especially when East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo ordered stores and businesses to get their employees vaccinated on or before June 24 in order to reopen.

The public has had varied reactions to this, but it has worked well for the district administration since daily immunization numbers have steadily increased.

Responding to the controversial statement, made about the East Khasi Hills DC in a Facebook post that went viral on Friday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma condemned the comments.

He said, “Condemn the distasteful comments made on the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district who has been executing her duties to the best of her ability to ensure the safety of all residents.”

“Supporting the administration that is tirelessly working through this pandemic is the least we can do as responsible citizens. Let us fight against this common enemy and support all those in the frontline,” Conrad Sangma further added.

Earlier, Dorbar Shnong Nongrim Hills also criticized the “scandalous” statements made about the East Khasi Hills DC.

The Dorbar has urged police to apprehend the perpetrator as soon as possible.

It is in place to mention here that the controversial social media post was made in response to the DC’s directive to vaccinate store employees before letting them re-open their businesses.
