The Oscars 2023 seems to be set to groove to some energetic music from the Indian terrain. RRR, made by ace director SS Rajamouli, has managed to draw some good attention and has climbed on to the shortlists for the much-awaited global cinema spectacle.

Naatu Naatu, a song from RRR, has found itself being picked for the Best Song Category. The song will feature as one among the 15 best songs of the year from around the globe, at the Oscars 2023. It is significant that Naatu Naatu was picked from among a total of 81 songs that competed.

It is important to note that the competing songs included ‘Nothing Is Lost’, from Avatar: The way Of Water; ‘Lift Me Up’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever; and ‘Hold My Hand’ from Top Gun: Maverick, and many more.

Though the Rajamouli opus was not an official entry for the Oscars, the film was submitted separately under the ‘For your consideration’ campaign for 14 categories. This came about as a boon to RRR, and it seems like the song will take the film to much greater heights, after it went on to be a hit not just in India but in many other parts of the world.

Makers overjoyed as RRR song triggers Oscars excitement

The success of the film was immense, with audiences that never spoke or understood Telugu, the south Indian language, applauded wholeheartedly, thereby making it a major blockbuster. With the Naatu Naatu song now set to take it the pinnacle of the entertainment world, the makers of the film are overjoyed.

Thanking everyone who loved the film and cheered it over the past few months, the makers of the film stated that the film was submitted to the Academy for Oscars consideration in the general category.

The film hit cinemas during March this year, and went on to be a mega blockbuster. The movie narrated a fictional account of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, two Indian revolutionaries. The characters were essayed on screen by Telugu superstars Ram Charan and NTR Jr respectively. A period venture set in the 1920s when India was under British rule, the film also had in the cast big names such as Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and others.

RRR sequel in the works

The success of the film has also prompted director Rajamouli to think of a sequel to the film. Said to be in development at the moment, the second part that goes by the title RRR could bring to screen a much bigger extravaganza on to the celluloid screens.

RRR has had a dream run among the masses as well as in global film festival venues. The Naatu Naatu song was nominated for the Golden Globe awards in the Best Original Song category. This apart, five nominations at Critics Choice Awards also had come its way.
