The top league Hollywood actors and actresses do not seem to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of cinema halls and malls. Numerous big-budget films had to be postponed due to the pandemic. However, the deserted box office has not spelled bad times for stars such as Daniel Craig, Leonardo DiCaprio.
Fat paychecks of top popular Hollywood actors
Variety has published a report detailing the fat paychecks received by top popular Hollywood actors last year. Daniel Craig occupied the top position, who received a whopping 100 million ( ₹743 crores) deal with Netflix for the two more Knives Out movies.
The flick is a sequel of the hit 2019 ‘whodunnit,’ and Daniel Craig will be reprising the role of master sleuth Benoit Blanc in the sequel. Netflix won the rights for two sequels and a readymade franchise. The deal has some riders attached to it. The conditions attached to the deal include Daniel must star in both the sequels and that each must have at least the budget of the 2019 movie.
No 2 in the list gets just half of Daniel Craig remuneration
Dwayne Johnson comes second on the list. However, his salary is just half of what Daniel is commanding right now. With $50 million in his pocket, Dwayne will be seen in Amazon Prime’s Red One and also Netflix’s Red Notice with Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds.
Streaming platform saved the day
The major stars do not seem to be affected by the pandemic because of their deals with multiple streaming platforms.
In the third spot with a paycheck of $40 million were Will Smith and Denzel Washington. Leonardo DiCaprio was in the fifth spot with $30 million. He received the amount for his Adam McKay comedy Don’t Look Up. His co-star from the movie, Jennifer Lawrence, is the highest-paid actress, in the seventh spot with a $25 million salary. Other names on the list include Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, Ryan Gosling, Robert Pattinson, and Brad Pitt.
