Xiaomi Products will no longer carry its shortened branding, Mi

Xiaomi products not to carry Mi branding in future

A move effected by Xiaomi has done away with its long-time ‘Mi’ branding. The decision has been made practical with the launch of the company’s launch of the Xiaomi Mix 4 recently. It is believed that the Mi branding has ceased to exist and will not be seen in any of Xiaomi’s future launches.

The move comes after a decade. The next launch from Xiaomi was expected to be that of the Mi 11T. With the new branding decision coming about, the device is to be known as the Xiaomi 11T.

Xiaomi is the largest smartphone OEM in the world

Xiaomi had been elevated to the position of the largest smartphone OEM globally after it sped past Samsung for the first time. Though the United States had not been a predominantly Xiaomi market, it had managed to garner a large part of the global market with its mid-range, high-value smartphones and flagship devices like the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, said an Android Central report.

The company is also now selling its phones in China without the Mi branding. The world is looking at how the decision would affect the Xiaomi products as customers have been so familiar with the Mi branding for a decade. However, the impact may turn out to be minimal.

In a statement, Xiaomi announced, “Starting in 2021 Q3, Xiaomi’s product series ‘Mi’ will be renamed to ‘Xiaomi,'” the spokesperson was cited as stating. “This change will unify our global brand presence and close the perception gap between the brand and its products. This change may take some time to take effect in all regions.”

Xiaomi sells products in various smart categories

Xiaomi is a company that is more popular for its wide range of smartphones. But it also has an array of other products in categories such as smart home, lifestyle, and computing. Products such as televisions, laptops, refrigerators, air fryers, smartwatches, scooters, robots, hairdryers, and many more have made Xiaomi a name to reckon with in the smart devices arena. And, all these products had come under the Mi branding until now.

With the new move, these products will do away with Mi and be just Xiaomi.
