Joining hands to facilitate smart, sustainable aviation tech

New pact to aid bi-lateral exchange of aviation expertise and technology between India and Sweden

In an effort aimed at exploring smart aviation solutions, India and Sweden, two prominent players in the air navigation service provider arena, have decided to work together. The two nations, who have already proved their mettle in building and operationalising next generation sustainable aviation technology, have inked a memorandum of understanding in this regard.

This MoU, signed between Airports Authority of India (AAI) and LFV Air Navigation Services of Sweden, is expected to open a new path in the bi-lateral exchange of aviation expertise and technology between the two countries. The agreement is also expected to let Indian companies to speed up their growth prospects growth by leveraging Swedish innovation and expertise. As per the deal, AAI and LFV Air Navigation Services will initiate measures towards collaborating in areas of mutual interest.

The two countries believe that rapid development concerning next-generation smart airports, and building sustainable transport systems have turned out to be a necessity.

Exchange of aviation knowledge, technical transfer

As per this, India and Sweden have agreed to initiate the exchange of aviation knowledge and technical transfer programme; promote close and friendly relations between AAI and LFV Sweden; and also to work towards expansion of technical cooperation in airports.

Besides, the two have agreed to support the development of a safe, secure, sustainable, and efficient aviation sector; and contribute in promoting bilateral and international trade.

It is expected that the mutual exchange in civil aviation between AAI and LFV Sweden will go a long way in building and operationalization of next generation of smart and sustainable aviation technology. Sweden, on its part, looks forward to the fulfilment of the new agreement and hopes to add to the already expansive India-Sweden collaboration, which already includes sustainability, health, innovation, energy. Further, the European nation also feels that the agreement would lead to added opportunities for both countries so as to explore climate-smart solutions within the aviation sector.

AAI, LFV collaboration in various aviation arenas

Going forward, AAI and LFV will collaborate on areas such as air traffic management, air traffic control, remote airport management and traffic control, airspace design and planning, airport design and infrastructure, digitalized airport and aviation capability and training, sustainable airports and aviation, processes for pilots, and processes for scale-up. In a bid to add steam to these efforts, it is being planned to set up a joint working group so as to prioritise interest areas and drive collaboration between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by. M. Suresh, Member – Air Navigation Services, AAI, and Magnus Corell, Deputy Director General, LFV Sweden, the Ministry of Civil Aviation informed. The MoU was inked in the presence of Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, AAI; Malin Cederfeldt Östberg, State Secretary, Ministry of Infrastructure, Government of Sweden; Klas Molin, Ambassador of Sweden to India and Tanmaya Lal, the Ambassador of India to Sweden.
