Naveen Patnaik government announced monetary help to children who lost parents due to COVID-19

Naveen Patnaik directed that special attention be paid to ensure that no helpless child is left out

On Sunday, the Naveen Patnaik government announced a unique plan called “Ashirvad,” under which children who have lost both parents will get 2,500 rupees each month.

The government has unveiled a comprehensive plan to assist orphans. Children who have lost both parents, children who have lost a single parent, and children who have lost the earning parent have been classified into three categories.

“For the education, maintenance and care of children who have lost their father, mother or family’s main earners, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched ‘Ashirvad’,” Chief Minister’s Office said.

As per the CMO, the chief minister directed that special attention be paid to ensure that no helpless child is left out.

Under the scheme, children who lose both parents, single parent and single earning parent will be assisted with a monthly amount of Rs. 2500 which will be directly transferred to their bank accounts.

In addition, children have been included in various welfare schemes of the state government.

“Relatives, who take care of children, will be given priority if they are eligible for any government scheme,” as per the CMO Odisha.

The government said it is committed to ensuring a safe environment for the overall development of these children who need special care in society.

In addition to receiving a monthly stipend, the children will be automatically enrolled in the Biju Swasthya Yojana, which will provide them with free medical care. Furthermore, they will be considered beneficiaries of all national and state-run food security programs.
