Srinagar –<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n With the snowfall continuing in Kashmir from the last two days, the authorities in the Valley have sounded high alert, even asking people not to travel on national highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As per reports reaching here, more than 4,000 vehicles are stranded on the national highway at different places after the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on 4th January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more snowfall in southern Kashmir in first week of January. Pertinently, south Kashmir has received more snow than central and north Kashmir so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere is a possibility of more snowfall in Pir Panjal region due to a Western Disturbance. The weather, however, can improve only after January 6,\u201d a senior IMD officer told the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At many places in south Kashmir<\/a>, the depth of snow is over 2 to 3 feet, which has hampered pedestrian movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
