The story behind AiSensy
WhatsApp Business API was launched in 2018 to allow businesses to effectively converse with customers at scale. However, WhatsApp only launched the API which single-handedly cannot help businesses fulfil their comprehensive requirements. Businesses needed a platform that helped them drive the complete potential of WhatsApp Business API.
Realizing the need of the hour AiSensy entered with the vision to bridge this gap back in December 2020. Built on the Official WhatsApp Business API, AiSensy aids businesses to benefit from WhatsApp’s monumental potential for customer engagement and revenue growth. AiSensy works closely with the WhatsApp team to implement the latest API features, ensuring that businesses stay ahead of the curve in the competitive sphere.
Founder’s Journey
AiSensy was co-founded by Gautam Rajesh Shelley and Mohit Dua, both of whom had previously worked on Triny, a chatbot platform. Gautam, the active CEO, hails from Uttarakhand and has a background in Mechanical Engineering, along with a deep passion for marketing, conversational chatbots, and automation. Mohit, from Dehradun, collaborated with Gautam on Triny before they shifted their focus to AiSensy. The pivot from Triny to AiSensy was driven by the market’s demand for a solution that could tap into WhatsApp Marketing, overcoming the limitations of the WhatsApp Business app. This led to the development and launch of AiSensy in December 2020.
AiSensy’s Vision & Mission

How AiSensy Enables Revenue Growth via WhatsApp
To learn about AiSensy’s impact on revenue growth for businesses, it’s crucial to first learn about WhatsApp’s large-scale reach. In 2024, WhatsApp enjoys 2.7 bn monthly active users, with each user spending an average of 33.5 minutes daily on the platform. The app sees a notable 98% message open rate, a 45-60% click rate on business-sent links, and a whopping 75% engagement rate. Also, over 5 mn+ businesses globally use WhatsApp Business, with several flagging a 27% rise in sales after integrating WhatsApp into their marketing strategies.
AiSensy helps businesses leverage WhatsApp’s potential through innovative features that go beyond basic messaging. One standout feature is the ability to send carousel messages, which can significantly boost conversions. Businesses can send engaging messages, including carousels, limited-time offers with copiable coupon codes, and various media formats, to hundreds of thousands of users at once—without the risk of getting their number blocked. AiSensy’s platform has already facilitated the sending of over 1 bn messages, with carousel messages alone driving 2x higher click rates on attached CTA buttons.
AiSensy also empowers businesses to build comprehensive WhatsApp marketing funnels, covering acquisition, engagement, onboarding, monetization, and retention – all within a single platform. For instance, Click-to-WhatsApp ads, integrated with AiSensy, can generate 5x more leads at the same Facebook ad budget. Businesses like Finance with Sharan utilize these ads to drive leads directly to WhatsApp, where users can fill out forms and complete payments seamlessly.
Also, AiSensy’s platform supports chatbot automation, enabling businesses to handle customer queries efficiently while also offering real-time assistance from live chat agents. Personalized onboarding is another key feature, demonstrated by Ankur Warikoo’s use of AiSensy to send automated, AI-personalized video messages to new course buyers, creating a tailored customer experience.
AiSensy further simplifies monetization by enabling payments directly within WhatsApp. For example, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) uses AiSensy’s platform to sell bus tickets. Through a WhatsApp chatbot, users select their destination, complete payments, and receive ticket details, within the app. This initiative has already resulted in the sale of over 1.2 mn+ bus tickets, proving that customers are increasingly adopting WhatsApp for more than just personal communication.
