19 districts in UP report no new Covid positive cases: CM Yogi Adityanath

CM Yogi announced that the night Corona curfew will be further relaxed from the coming Monday, June 21, amid improving conditions in view of the Covid transition

Yogi Adityanath, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, stated that the state government and various departments worked as a team to fight the pandemic of COVID-19, which has resulted in a dramatic improvement in the situation.

Mr Yogi said that there are 19 districts in the state where not a single positive case has been reported during the last 24 hours, which is an indicator of the improving scenario.

Asking people to abide by the standard operating procedures regarding COVID-19, he requested people to use face masks, hand sanitizers and practice social distancing.

“My dear people, Unlock has started but Corona virus is not gone yet. Therefore, wear a mask, use sanitizer regularly, do not go out unnecessarily, avoid going to crowded places and get vaccinated when it is your turn,” the UP chief minister said.

He hailed the efforts of ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, and other government department personnel, who were involved with the Covid containment efforts of the state government.

“I heartily congratulate the ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, village heads and Revenue Department personnel associated with all the monitoring committees of the state. All these are our frontline Corona warriors who have set a great example of saving every village by making it Corona free,” he said.

Yogi Adityanath further said, “Teamwork within Uttar Pradesh has proved that whether it is a Corona pandemic or any challenge, if every department discharges its responsibilities with strong will and collectiveness, then it will not take long to get positive results.”

Speaking about the improvement in the emerging Covid situation, he said, “Concept of ‘Corona Free Uttar Pradesh’. As a result of the committed efforts of UP government, today there are 19 districts where not a single positive case has been reported. There are 45 districts where only single-digit positive cases have come and there are some districts where only one active case has remained.”

Meanwhile, CM Yogi announced that the night Corona curfew will be further relaxed from the coming Monday, June 21, amid improving conditions in view of the Covid transition. The night curfew will be effective from 9 PM to 7 AM the next day.

On the other hand, restaurants can be opened with 50 percent capacity with proper compliance of relevant Covid protocol. Permission will also be given to operate parks, street food etc.

“Establishment of Covid Help Desk at these places will be mandatory. Detailed guidelines should be issued regarding the new system,” UP CM stated.

On Monday, the death toll in the state due to COVID-19 rose to 21,858 with 74 more fatalities. 339 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 17,02,937, according to the state’s health bulletin.

In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,116 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the total number of recoveries to 16,72,968. The recovery rate in the state has now come to 98.2 per cent.

The count of active cases stands at 8,111, of which 4,849 are in home isolation and remaining in government hospitals.
